I don't have any modern Lundby dollhouses (yet!), but I've been unable to resist some of the modern furniture. I especially love the stainless steel kitchen with island, which has found a home in the Lundby garage extension of my Lisa dollhouse:
I've also acquired a pink sectional sofa (the corduroy floral cushions are to die for!) that I'm not sure where to place yet. My original idea was to add it to my pink loft bedroom, but as you'll see it's a bit of a tight squeeze (and does it really make sense to have lounge furniture in the bedroom?!):
The IKEA-look garden table and chairs are also bigger than I expected. They take up almost all the room on my 90s Gothenburg balcony:
The fourth chair wouldn't fit on the balcony, so I added it to my blue bedroom:One vintage/modern room that I'm happy with is a little space I partitioned off in one of my extensions. I like how the plain wood staircase coordinates with the modern wood bookcase. And I think the vintage curtains and rug look pretty good with the modern red chairs:
Maybe it's okay to decorate with a hodge podge of old and new. After all, that's what my real house looks like (with more of an emphasis on the old and decrepit)!
I think the pink corner suite goes lovely in that bedroom.
ReplyDeleteWho cares if its cramped!
I totally agree that old and modern go hand in hand, just like real homes.
Ah, thank you! At least my dolls don't mind climbing over or squeezing between the furniture. I would love a corner sectional like that in my real home...maybe not in pink though.
ReplyDeleteI think teenagers would love a bedroom like this, perfect for having mates over!
ReplyDeleteVery good point! And younger kids might like having a sofa in their bedroom to jump up and down on--when the parents aren't looking of course!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are quite lovely! I always find I like the way others arrange their rooms more than mine! I'm particularly drawn to the pink bedroom (as well) and the blue bedroom. I like how the modern furniture makes everything look bright and cheery! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jaclyn! I like looking at other people's houses, too, to see how they arrange things and get ideas for mine. That blue bedroom is one of my favorites. I guess I have a thing for mini toys. Thanks for your kind words. Come back any time!
ReplyDeleteI think that mixing the old style and a new one together is a very good idea. And I really like the interiors of your houses, they look so cosy:-)
ReplyDeleteYes, I think mixing styles and also brands makes things more interesting. Thank you, Arestrea!
ReplyDeleteI also think that mixing styles can make more interesting. I the bedroom with the big pink sofa I think I would move out the desk that is squashed in the corner (would it go in the blue bedroom?)and replace with a little table with radio or plant, perhaps.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried moving the coffee table to the front edge of the room, next to the sofa? It would make a clear space in the middle and wouldn`t make the room look crowded.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Joy! I'm in the process of re-setting up my dollhouses after a move, and I've shuffled things around a bit. Good idea to keep traffic flow in mind!
