The joy of rediscovery

Lots of people have told me how much fun they're having rediscovering Lundby or recreating their childhood Lundby collections as adults. Here is one of those stories....

Once upon a time, a little girl named Melanie had a Lundby dollhouse that she loved. She and her sister Melissa spent many happy hours playing with it together. Years later, Melanie dug it out from storage. To her dismay it was damaged beyond repair, and the contents were lost. She was very sad.

Melanie's mother, Barbara, wanted to give her daughter back her Lundby childhood treasures. She set out to find and furnish a house just like Melanie's. She remembered each little room and its tiny little contents.

It took some time and a little help from me, a couple kind eBay sellers, and two Lundby experts in Sweden... And voilà! Melanie's Christmas surprise was born:

On Christmas Day, Melanie arrived at her mother's house and the first thing she saw was the dollhouse, all lit up with its own little tree. How could it be... Was it really? She thought her original dollhouse had been miraculously fixed up, and all the furniture found!

It was exactly as she remembered it--hard to believe it was a recreation! Melanie shed many tears of joy that day, sitting by the house and remembering exactly how she used to rearrange things, moving the fireplace here and the china cabinet there.

Now Melanie and her young daughter enjoy playing with the house together, sharing old memories and creating new ones.

  4. Hi Julie. Thanks for stopping by my blog to see my way old doll house. Thanks for the link on the Hogarin items. So funny... When I did those posts on the Hogarins a dear friend in Texas had sent me her dolls to play with. So I don't own them but I had a great time playing with them. Here is the link when they were leaving Texas and on the way to Illinois. You might enjoy. It always good to hear from you.
